drowndingA jumble of words cascading over my mind like a waterfall over a cliff I stand gasping and grasping for something sturdy Yet like sand everything slips though my fingers like seconds through time I am left naked and alone drownding

HimI open my eyes and find myself looking at the canopy over a black, iron, four-poster bed. The material is a sheer white with bits of silver theaded through. The sheets I'm laying on are a white statin. I look around the room and discover it's made out of white marble and with silver around the base of pillars around the room that gracefully arch into archways. Everything in the room has a faint yellow glow from candles that fill the room, there is no other light in the room, except for a thin strand of moonlight coming through an open window. The window is surrounded by yards of fabic, much like that over the bed, and dances slowly in the gen Him

CrossroadsMy fingers tighten around the end of the clip, causing shoulder length black hair to release and tumble in waves. Tilting my head down, I look at the chipped pink nail polish on my hands. I take a deep breath and stare at the hands against the marbled ivory counter. Slowly I raise my head. Black strands of hair cascade over my eyes as I dare to meet my own gaze in the mirror. My eyes, which normally hold a shade of blue, are green grey, the shade of stormy water; Relflecting the conflict in my head.

In September, Congress will consider the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which is the most important legislation ever enacted to protect women from domestic violence and sexual assault.
